The High Pass
About
Hiring a marketing agency means wading through directories that rank whoever paid the most, review sites you can game, and a hundred near-identical agency homepages that all promise the same thing. The High Pass exists to cut through that.
It is a ranked directory of marketing agencies where the order is earned, the method is public, and no one can pay to climb it. The name is the idea: a high bar a listing has to clear to make the list, where only what earns its place gets over. That is the standard we hold every listing to.
The buyer's-eye version of that problem, the patterns worth walking away from, is its own guide: how to spot a bad marketing agency.
What this is
The High Pass is a ranked directory of marketing agencies, published as shortlists by category and location. Each listing is compiled from public sources and, where an agency has claimed it, enriched with owner-submitted detail. The ranked list is the product: a checkable shortlist you can actually use, not a wall of thin pages.
The High Pass is curated, not comprehensive. We're not trying to list every agency, only the ones that clear the bar, and we add more as we vet them. An agency that clears the bar but isn't here yet is coverage we haven't reached, not a verdict; if that's you, request inclusion.
Who is behind it
The High Pass is an independent publication, built and maintained in New Jersey. It is not an anonymous aggregator: corrections and questions reach someone who can act on them.
How ranking works
Listings are ordered by a single computed score built only from public evidence (review signal and rating), recomputed whenever an agency's data changes. Nothing an agency tells us about itself moves its rank. The weights are published and rendered directly from the code that does the ranking, so the stated method cannot drift from the actual behavior.
Placement in the computed ranking cannot be bought; The High Pass takes no payment from the agencies it lists. Read the full methodology.
Independence
The High Pass is not affiliated with the agencies it lists. Listings are compiled from public information and verified owner submissions; being listed is not an endorsement, and an agency cannot pay to improve its computed rank.
The people behind The High Pass also work in marketing, and deliberately keep their own properties out of the rankings, even where one would qualify. The list ranks others on merit; the operator's own work is never listed here.
Corrections and claims
If you own an agency listed here, you can claim your free listing to verify and enrich it. To correct a factual error in a listing you do not own, or to request removal of a listing, use the contact form. Correction and removal requests are honored.
